2013 Calender of Events

Here is my working calender for the coming year.  I will be adding events as the year progresses, please feel free to make suggestions. In addition to the events listed I am available for private classes and tours upon request.  All events are offered for free as a service to the community.  Donations are accepted, but not required.  Please keep an eye on my Facebook page for updates and reminders.

Types of events:

Guided tours:  We will meet as a group in a public park or private land and discuss a number of different plants.  I will cover identification and uses along with discerning from look a likes.  All ages are welcome, but parents are responsible for supervising their children as we will be near plants that are potentially dangerous.  Come prepared for a hike in good shoes, prepared for heat, cold, bugs and sun.  Tours average about an hour and a half.

Homeschool funshop:  Offered in cooperation with local homeschool groups, these classes will be in the field and child centered.  Come prepared for heat, cold, bugs and sun.  Keep in mind, for events held at evergreen cemetery, there are no restroom facilities there, so make sure your children are prepared for the class.  All ages welcome.

Expert pow-wow:  An informal hike with local, knowledgeable people.  We will hang out in the woods, share different perspectives and experiences, and generally geek out about plants.  All levels of knowledge and experience are welcome.

Harvest workshops:  We will meet in the field to discuss and harvest from one particular plant in it's season.  Long sleeves, closed shoes and protection from bugs and sun is recommended, as well as plenty of water, as the work may be strenuous.  See specific workshop descriptions for other preparations that may be need depending on the plant to be harvested.

Foraged food and medicine classes:  Group instructions on turning your weeds into delicious food and healing medicine.  If you have a kitchen to donate to this cause, please let me know as mine is extremely small, but I can make it work if need be.

I will try to update all to be announced details no later than three weeks from time of event.  All outdoor events are subject to cancellation in the event of inclement weather.  Please RSVP to all events to help me prepare.
